Deployment & evaluation

Evaluate the fit.
Prepare the rollout.

For IT teams in small and midsize organizations: agree what to evaluate, prepare a representative device group and review the results before expanding.

A console walkthrough can answer product questions before you install an agent.

Before installation

Prepare the
first device group.

Check permissions, connectivity and existing controls before installing the agent.

Your endpoint estate
Describe the devices, operating environments and working patterns in scope.
Installation permissions
Windows agent installation requires administrator permissions. Arrange the installation owner, software-distribution method and an appropriate change window. Review any restart prompt from the installer.
Connectivity
Check service access, proxy settings and network restrictions. Verify that the first enrolled devices report to the correct organization.
Existing tools and policies
Review current endpoint controls, device-management tools and deployment restrictions. Agree groups and policy assignments for the first devices.

Installation & enrollment

Check the setup
before expanding.

An authorized administrator obtains the agent package and enrollment details from the organization’s Sentinel workspace.

Sign in to Sentinel
  • Prepare the agent package

Obtain the approved agent package and enrollment details from Devices. Confirm the target organization and the devices in scope.

  • Install and enroll the endpoint

Run the approved Windows package with administrator permissions and follow its completion instructions. Use the enrollment token supplied by an authorized administrator to enroll the device into the intended organization.

  • Verify the device in the console

Check that the device appears in the expected organization, reports a recent check-in and has the intended group and policy assignment. Follow up reporting gaps before adding more devices.

A focused evaluation

Agree what
you need to learn.

Decide which questions the evaluation must answer and what would justify a wider rollout.

Discuss your evaluation
  • Define the scope and owners

Agree the devices, access, evaluation duration, reviewers and operating constraints. Set success criteria before starting.

  • Review the evidence and workflow

Check device reporting, available process and file context, investigation ownership and policy visibility. Use an agreed demonstration scenario to review findings and an authorized response workflow.

  • Record the outcome

Record answered questions, unresolved gaps and support needs. Compare the findings with plan scope and commercial terms before deciding whether to expand.
